candidate statement

My name is Billy Bridges, and I am a Christian. I am also a father, Air Force veteran, and former educator. My formal education in preparation for this Office includes a B.A. in Political Science, M.A. in Pastoral Counseling, Masters In Public Administration, M.S. in Leadership with Emphasis in Emergency Management, and currently completing an M.S. in Legal Studies. I believe in Christian Servant Leadership. This means not seeking to serve self-interest. Rather, it is being all about Christian service to help and govern others. We need to decide whether we want a leader who plans with strategy, or a politician serving only self, special interests, and acquaintances. 

When officials come into an office of leadership without any definitive plans, it is likened to going into a military conflict with only bits and pieces of plans that are sure to fail because of a lack of consistency and coherency. Trying to resolve issues on the fly, or just reacting, is a poor way to govern. The history of Prince George's County that I have witnessed since my arrival in 1994, has been one of nepotism, selling out, and ignoring the needs of the vast majority of citizens. I have often said, it reminds me of share cropping.

Let us be clear, that this does not happen in isolation. Many in the Democratic Party establishment, media, and big donors, continue to put forth, and endorse, candidates who never had your best interest in mind. They were certainly not servant leaders. The Democratic Party appears to suggest that candidates raising the most money are the most viable. Due to the Epstein probes, haven't we all seen the consequences of trying to rub shoulders with the big money? 

This is my third time as a candidate for Prince George's County Executive, I have funded my campaigns, and refused to take a penny in donations, particularly from developers and large donors, who try to contribute. I want the voters and citizens of Prince George's County to know that they can have a County Executive who is not indebted to those special interests. My policies aim to improve the lives of all citizens, especially the low to middle income groups who are treated as second class citizens, in areas of healthcare, safety, schools, and wealth. The wealthy will still have ways to grow, but helping others who have been shutout to get to improved wealth, creates that dream of Generational Wealth.

I warned the State Board of Elections in 2022 about the illegal tactic of candidates paying to put their names on flyers, and then passing it off to voters as a Team 23, or some other number. There are no such teams. That is deceptive, and leads voters to believe that those candidates were somehow selected in a special process. In fact, one employee in the Prince George's County Public Schools told me that he received one of the flyers, and since he did not see my picture, he assumed these were the people to vote for. My friends and neighbors, I highly recommend that you NOT vote for any candidates who appear on such a flyer. Please let me know if you see my face, or name, on one, because I will find out how it got there.

Lastly, in government, there are the famous, the rich, and the powerful. Those that are just famous establishment politicians, are about themselves and like to rub shoulders with the rich and celebrities. The rich like to think their money can control everything and everyone. However, the powerful are you the voters. The rich and famous do not want you to realize on Election Day, there is no difference between the richest and poorest person in Prince George's County. Your one vote is the great equalizer. It is shameful to think that 300 -400 rich people would like to nullify and offset the votes of 300-400,000 voters. My military service and work life have always been among the working class, and I care for you!
